INAUGURAL WINTER INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION RESEARCHERS SEMINAR

OBJECTIVES: The International Education Researchers Forum has been initiated to develop a network of currently active and emerging researchers and those managing research in the broad field of international education.
The specific aims of the Forum include to: • Encourage interaction between researchers and practitioners from all sectors • Facilitate discussion on current and future research priorities; • Contribute towards the development of an Australian industry-based research agenda; • Disseminate information on current research, funding possibilities, publishing, meetings etc • Develop links between Australian and international researchers across institutions, sectors and fields of study.
PARTICIPANTS: Involvement is encouraged for all active researchers working in the field. The event is designed to bring together researchers from:
• Academia • Industry • Government • Non-government organisations.
Masters and PhD students are particularly welcome.
PRESENTERS:
Key-note Speaker Professor Jeanette Hacket was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University of Technology in April 2006, following her two-year role as Deputy - Vice - Chancellor . Professor Hacket has a particular interest in international higher education and quality assurance and has vast experience in international education leadership previously holding the title of Pro-Vice Chancellor of International Education and Enterprise.
Research Leaders A number of international education research leaders will host small group discsussions around specialist topic areas: Professor Simon Marginson, University of Melbourne Dr Chris Ziguras, RMIT Associate Professor Betty Leask, University of South Australia Professor Chris Nyland, Monash University
New Reseacher Dr. Ly Tran, an ARC research fellow and lecturer in the School of Education at RMIT, will provide a personal insight into starting out in international education research.
