Funding and Business Incentives

The Australian Government supports businesses to invest and pursue research opportunities. It has a wide range of support programs and incentives to achieve this. State and Territory Governments also have programs that support international education research.

GrantsLINK is an online portal that provides businesses with easily accessible information on grants, funding, scholarships and incentives available. A selection of programs relevant to education research is outlined below.

Funding	Description
Commercialisation Australia	Commercialisation Australia is a competitive, merit based assistance program that assists Australia’s talented researchers, entrepreneurs and innovative companies to commercialise their ideas.
Education Investment Fund (EIF)	The Education Investment Fund (EIF) seeks to build a modern, productive, internationally competitive Australian economy by supporting world-leading, strategically-focused infrastructure investments that will transform Australian tertiary education and research. The EIF will provide funding to eligible institutions for projects that create or develop significant infrastructure in higher education institutions, research institutions and vocational education and training providers.
Export Market Development Grant (EMDG)	The Export Market Development Grant scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program and current and aspiring exporters. Managed by Austrade the grants enable businesses to claim rebates for expenditure on export promotion.
Innovation Investment Fund	The Innovation Investment Fund Program is a venture capital program that assists with the development of new managers in early stage venture capital investment.
Research and Development Rebate	Research and Development Tax Concession is a broad-based, market driven tax concession which allows companies to deduct up to 125 per cent of qualifying expenditure incurred on R&D activities.
